Merendi Pregnancy fitness classes

I have found a great place for all our Brisbane Bartercard mums to help stay fit during pregnancy and then shed that post baby weight.

It is called Merendi Health and Wellness. They are located in Brendale, Caboolture, Redcliffe and Bribie Island.

They offer pregnancy fitness classes and Strollercize for mum and bub. I did strollercize just after I had Sienna and I loved it! It was a great way to meet other new mums and re-strengthen my stomach muscles…and the rest! Give it a go ladies.

It's funny not to say mum

It has taken 12 months and 23 days but Sienna is finally saying mum! It has been an on-going joke in our family that Sienna says Dadda, duck, dog, ball but laughs at me everytime I try to get her to say mum.

So yippee, we have extended her vocabulary and made it to the end of the first full year as parents. Wishing you all a very happy New Years celebration and a fantastic and prosperous 2011.

I’m looking forward to hearing about all the new Bartercard bubs in 2011.

Will it ever stop raining!

Being stuck inside for 2 months with a small child is not my idea of fun! I have time off over Christmas to spend with the family hoping to spend it at the beach, visiting Sea World and Movie World, instead everytime we try to step foot out of the house we got drenched! I hasn’t stopped raining for 2 months and I just can’t see it letting up!

I’m really findind it hard with a one year old as she doesn’t enjoy shopping, going to the movies or sitting quietly to read a book! I feel sorry for Sienna as she has been restricted to the living room or the deck so for her it is very much GROUND HOG DAY! I think she will be looking forward to going back to kindy so she can play with all of her friends.

I really don’t know how mother’s do it with more than one child stuck inside with all the rain.

If anyone has any bright ideas for rainy day activities to do with a one year old (outside of the home) I would love to hear them.

Oh, I should have mentioned, we did decide to go to Movie World one day. It was hilarious. We had on ponchos, had umbrellas, strapped Sienna into her pram which has it’s own rain coat and off we went. We managed to stay pretty dry even though it was torrential rain. On each of the kiddy rides we had to hold up an umbrella to stop from getting drowned. Sienna was amazed at what was going on but thankfully didn’t get upset about getting wet. Just before we decided to make a run for it to the carpark a huge storm hit. Thankfully the main street in Movie World has a cover over it so we were able to protect ourselves from the rain.

I was amazed at how many people ventured out in the terrible weather. I guess they felt the same way that we did….we just wanted to get out of the house!!!

Another Bartercard bub on the way

I just got some very exicting news that one of our much loved Bartercard members is currently in labour having her baby!

Oh the anticipation…is it a boy or girl?!!! and what will they call it?

She is 2 weeks early so we wish her all the very best.

Pregnancy massage

Pregnancy has to one of the most uncomfortable things a woman can experience (apart from birth). It lasts nine months, your body weakens as it prepares for birth, your muscles ache and you just generally feel wretched. It can be quite hard to find a massage therapist that actually specialises in pregnancy massage but once you find one, they become your best friend and gives you something to look forward to in the long-haul of pregnancy. Honestly I felt like my pregnancy was NEVER going to end!

About a week before Sienna was born I was given a gift certificate to go to Splash Day spa, paid for on Bartercard and it provided such relief and gave me an opportunity to have some great me time. I have also recently heard of a Bartercard member called Amy Mitchell that set up a specialist day spa for pregnant woman called Yummy Mummy Pregnancy Day Spa…go Amy!

My advice to anyone that is pregnant is to pamper yourself! Because once that baby arrives, say hello to the mono-brow, split ends, bags under the eyes and haggard looking skin. Oh, come on Christie it’s not all doom and gloom…yeah, yeah, I know, but seriously take the opportunity while you can and while you REALLY need it, to pamper yourself or someone that you know that is pregnant….and remember you can save cash by using Bartercard!

Merry Christmas everyone!

U2 Concert

I went to the U2 concert last night. I got the tickets through Bartercard’s sponsorship with the QLD Reds. I have loved U2 for years and went to their Zooropa tour years ago in Sydney. The concert blew me away.

It was great to see them again and I have to say that Bono gets better with age but I was disappointed that they didnt’ play more of their older stuff.

The stage was brilliant. It was positioned at one end of Brisbane’s Suncorp stadium and was in the round. All in all a great performance. Thanks Reds for the opportunity and good luck next season!

Pooh Bear blankets for Baby

I have just ordered one for Sienna, can’t wait to receive it! It will make such a nice keepsake or gift idea.

Discipline starts with crawling!

Sienna has started crawling and she is getting into everything! We spent the day at home yesterday and all day my vocabulary existed of the words “Sienna no”, “no Sienna please don’t touch that” and “Sienna, I told you not to touch that”

This was then generally followed with me picking her up and moving her back to her toys which took us in to tantrum phase! Wow, she really knows how to stack it on! She looks so sweet but don’t give her what she wants and all hell breaks loose! She would even watch me to see what reaction I would give when she would do what I told her not to. I have to say, it made me laugh but I couldn’t believe that at 10 1/2 months she would test me like that.

I think it is time to start learning some discipline techniques. If anyone knows of some great books on discipline, let me know, I can then purchase from my local Bartercard bookshop.
